You Are the Door Opener: How to Network Your Way to More Opportunities

Did you know that 85% of jobs are filled through personal connections? In fact, 70% of jobs are never even listed online.

If you want to achieve more success and momentum in your career, networking is your greatest tool.

In this exclusive keynote talk, you’ll learn how to forge more meaningful connections, open conversations that invite connection and grow your network, one conversation at a time. You’ll learn the crucial interpersonal skills that help keep our networks thriving.

Let’s be honest: networking can feel a little awkward.

Whether you’re sending a LinkedIn message or walking into a room full of strangers, it’s easy to worry you’ll say the wrong thing. But here’s the good news: we can ALL get good at it and you don’t need to be a natural extrovert to win at networking.

80% of professionals say networking is essential to career success, so why aren’t we prioritising it more?

Angelica will guide through the why and how of growing your professional network. She’ll teach you how to open doors for yourself you never even knew existed.

In the summer of ‘22, I moved to New York in the midst of a whirlwind romance.

Back in London, I’d built a successful emcee business, hosting conferences and moderating events all over Europe. I was the ‘go-to’ emcee for live events, having spent over a decade in journalism building out my network.

Suddenly I found myself 4,500 miles from home, starting again in a new city. I had no network, no professional contacts, no friends.

Internally, I was struggling with the confidence to put myself out there. I felt nervous picking up the phone, introducing myself to new people and unsure how to approach relationship-building in NYC.

To add to the challenge, I had a baby at home and very little time to get out and network in-person. When you’re a new mom, every moment outside the house and away from your child matters.

Facing the end of maternity leave, I had a choice: find a traditional job or treat networking like a full-time job to build my emcee business in America.

I bet on myself.

I developed a networking strategy that felt authentic to me. A LinkedIn outreach approach that didn’t give me the ‘ick’. Became a pro as using AI to build my personal brand and focus my networking efforts.

I crafted introductions and communications that didn’t feel sales-y. I found a way to network intentionally and pave my way to new opportunities.

Using my new approach, I reached out to the CEO of a prestigious event in New York. To my surprise, he picked up the phone right away and hired me on the spot.

One email changed everything.

I emceed my first big conference in New York and never looked back.

I found myself on bigger stages. Better paid opportunities. Having more fun. All because I learned how to open doors for myself.

Now, I teach the framework for networking and authentic relationship-building that helped me rebuild my career from the ground up. We’re living in a time when digital networking matters more than ever, and I love helping others discover how to build meaningful connections that truly last.
