Auctioneer for Hire NYC

Last night, I went to a networking event where I didn't know a soul in the room.

I had to do that BRAVE, scary thing where you introduce yourself to perfect strangers and tell them what you do for work.

I've been practicing recently being more intentional with introductions. Because I don't know that 'auctioneer' is exactly the right term for me.

I'm not a fast-talking auctioneer selling cars or livestock. I don't rattle off numbers at top speed. I'm actually pretty slow and intentional on stage.

I use my 10+ years of being a professional emcee to get a crowd going and my journalism skills to tell a story and sell a mission. I'm trying a different approach to fundraising, which is more about moving people emotionally, than setting a record pace.

On every prospect call, I'm like "you know I don't do this quickly" so they know what to expect.

But it's works.

At charity galas, it’s not just about the vacation, the tickets or the piece of art up for grabs. It’s about reading the room, building trust and creating a sense of collective giving.
